Poet Parker is having a rough time of it … and then some.
She owes her boss Max Anderson everything for saving her from a life on the streets, but Mystic Caravan’s favorite psychic is struggling because that loyalty caused her to lose a shot at true love.
When the circus hits Brigham City, the nature lovers in the troupe are looking forward to visiting the Great Salt Lake while Poet can’t shake the feeling that someone … or rather some dark thing … is watching her. Her discomfort doesn’t ease back at the circus, where Kade Denton is busy pretending she doesn’t exist while he grapples with the truth about his parentage.
When a local boy goes missing, the police show up at the circus and announce that everyone is a suspect. The suspicion only grows when the missing boy turns up alive in an adjacent field. Even after returning him to his parents, the police refuse to back down and Poet finds the walls closing in.
Between a shady cabin in the woods, local legends about saltwater monsters and angry ghosts that may be waging war on outsiders, and Kade’s inability to stay away even though his anger still festers, Poet has her hands full.
As always, though, the show must go on. The circus runs like a well-oiled machine … until trouble comes calling. Poet finds it’s difficult to straddle the line between magical demands and emotional reality and when the enemy becomes clear she finds she might be the ultimate target.
Can Mystic Caravan’s band of merry mischief makers hold it together long enough to take down another foe? Only time will tell whether Poet’s happy ending is within her reach … or if death with find her first.

Freaky Hearts A Mystic Caravan Mystery Book 3 eBook Amanda M Lee

Slower paced than the first two books but still a good read. OK now that relationships are on the mend how about back stories on some of the other characters, cleaning up some smarmies, and those clowns. Shifter stories would be cool too!

Freaky Hearts A Mystic Caravan Mystery Book 3 eBook Amanda M Lee Reviews

As cliche as it is to say I love the characters, because who reads a series without loving the characters, I really love the characters. The paranormal circus setting allows for such variety of beings that we are not restricted to it being a vampire or werewolf series. The paranormal is a part of the setting and characters instead of being the focus! Circuses don't bring in the "normal" so it allows a depth of character options that just don't exist most places.
Amanda M. Lee delivers again. This time the antics that matter happen in Brigham City, Utah. The story is complicated, but don' t worry it all works out in the end. Supernatural good guys do battle against supernatural bad guys, and more of the mystery behind it all gets revealed. Read the book, and though each of these books reads well on its own, I encourage you to read the entire series. You won' t regret a single moment! A+ Bravo!!!
I generally love Amanda M Lee's books, and always purchase the newest book in each series when it comes out. 'Freaky Hearts' is just as much fun as her other books, and I enjoy the circus and paranormal creatures twist of this series. The only complaint I really have is that I wish the author would please, please, PLEASE stop having characters use the phrase "you know that, right?" when speaking to one another. This phrase comes up in the dialogue constantly, in every one of her series. It occurs so much that it could be a drinking game- if you took a swig of alcohol every time this phrase appeared in the text, you would most definitely be hammered by the end of the book. Ms. Lee, please don't succumb the next time your fingers want to type "You know that, right?" The conversation will still make sense, I promise- your books are otherwise extremely enjoyable and entertaining.
This is the first of her books I'm truly struggling to finish.
1. Kade keeps telling her everything she did wrong. Over and over. And it's a short list, so as you can imagine, this gets really old really fast.
2. I'm halfway through and far more time has been spent on her relationship than the plot.
3. This author has such a skewed view of Mormons it stopped being funny. I groaned when I saw it was set in Brigham City because I knew it would be ridiculous, and sure enough, it is. The locals are portrayed as insular and cult-like. I live in Utah 4 years, and while they were quirky and religious, cashiers don't tell you in the grocery store that alcohol is evil and that they are going to run you out of town because circuses are scandalous. In fact, I'm pretty sure if a circus came to town they would come out in droves because they love family entertainment. The polygamy jokes get old super fast--it's one of those things we joke about ourselves but don't really enjoy people making fun of at our expense (and I seriously had a coworker a few months ago think my husband might have more than one wife, so obviously it's a misconception that just keeps getting kicked around).
At this point I'm finishing it just so I know how it ends and so the next book will make sense. I'm hoping the endless dissecting of relationships will get better and that there will be more plot.

ETA The second half of the book is better than the first. I would give it back half a star, so 3.5/5
First off, I sat and read this book most of the day yesterday. I finished it at 230 this morning! I just couldn't put it down for longer than a few minutes.
I love the humor in these books. Probably because it reminds me of myself and my friends. I'm more pervy than them though so I'd probably be Luke. Lol
Aside from the humor there was a bunch of heartfelt moments in this book and FINALLY! Poet and Kade buried the carrot! Ok, that was lame, sorry. I'm glad they made up! Moreso that Kade forgave Poet.
I can't wait to see what comes next in this cute, funny and freaky series. Hopefully Made can forgive Max too and build a relationship with him in the father son capacity.
I also need to see what other twisted creatures and havoc await the Mystic Caravan crew.
Take a suspenseful plot, add in snarky dialogue, quirky but deadly magical characters, mix in lots of high energy & just the right amount of romantic angst, & you get one wickedly awesome Paranormal mystery. This series is one thrilling & complex adventure ride! Do not miss it!!!!!
This is another great book by Amanda Lee in the Mystic Caravan mystery series. It's best to start with the first book so you understand the personality and the history of each character but as this is only book 3, it won't take long to catch up. These are fun, interesting, paranormal mysteries taking g place in a circus like setting. I most sincerely hope that Ms. Lee will continue to write books in this series as well as her Wicked Witches of the Midwest books. She has fast become one of my favorite authors.
Slower paced than the first two books but still a good read. OK now that relationships are on the mend how about back stories on some of the other characters, cleaning up some smarmies, and those clowns. Shifter stories would be cool too!
